The International Symposium of Global Collaboration on Education, Research, and Business in Environmental Studies, and the International Workshop for Implementation of Global Collaboration on Education, Research, and Business in Environmental Studies were held at Kyoto University on December 11th and 12th in 2015.

The symposium had 152 participants from 16 nations (25 universities, one research institute, one governmental organization and seven private companies). In the main session, Graduate school of Agriculture, Graduate School of Engineering and GSGES at Kyoto University explained their international collaborative activities. Participants discussed on their achievements, lessons, and further prospects for global collaboration on education, research, and business.

On the following day, 152 participants attended the Workshop. Out of them, 84 participants attended to the Double Degree Session where they discussed double degree programs and joint degree programs for master and doctoral students based on actual cases referring to the duration, scholarship, admission policy and some difficulties in each university. In Collaboration with Business Session, 4 speakers addressed specific examples of technological development, activities through the collaboration between private companies and universities, field education, and a framework to support global cooperation with industry, government, and universities in ASEAN countries were introduced. Through the discussion in both sessions, various ideas were rose and difficulties were shared, and participants agree to continue to develop the collaborations related with environmental studies.
